Description

This book is a celebration of 25 years of Music for Hope. The programme was set up in 1996 as a solidarity collaboration between cultural activists in the UK and the community of Nueva Esperanza in El Salvador. Over the past 25 years, Music for Hope has evolved into a dynamic community music programme for young people from the Bajo Lempa, using participatory music as a tool for community development.

Through images by photographer Kevin Hayes, and interviews conducted by Tony Luna, Music for Hope: 25 Years of Solidarity tells the story of Music for Hope from the perspective of students, teachers and activists. Over 43 pages, these images and words capture the essence, spirit and resilience of Music for Hope, inviting a new generation participants and supporters to become involved in securing its future for the next generation of young people.
